This comes up constantly for people buying their first van, and the standard advice ("get high roof if you can afford it") misses a lot of nuance.

What they don't tell you about high roof:

Almost every parking garage in America has a 6'8" clearance. High-roof Sprinters and Transits are 9-9.5 feet. You are permanently banned from parking garages.
Drive-throughs. Gas station canopies. Hotel porticos. Bank drive-throughs. You develop a new spatial awareness for everything overhead.
Wind resistance is real. You feel it at highway speeds and you pay for it in fuel.
Some campground entrance gates are low. Some road tunnels are low. Some bridges are low.

What they don't tell you about low roof:

Standing up to cook after a full day of driving is not a small thing. You will notice this every single day.
If you're over 5'8" a low-roof Transit or Sprinter means permanent head ducking in the center of the van.
